The Great Pyrenean Mountain Passes
This is a must-do route every biker should try. Of course, you won’t climb every pass of the Pyrenees. But you’ll have the chance to cross the most famous ones, such as the Col d’Aubisque at 1,709 metres altitude.
You’ll also climb the Col du Soulor (1,474 metres), the Col du Tourmalet (2,115 metres) or even the Col d’Aspin (1,489 metres). The route is also a chance to take in other equally impressive natural sites such as the Luz Gorges and the Pic du Midi de Bigorre.
Motorbike ride to the Bardenas Desert
This route takes you to the Bardenas Desert in Spain. You’ll cross the Pyrenees range along the way. Allow about 3 hr 40 for a 237 km one-way trip. Pro tip: because it gets very hot, set off very early in the morning.
The starting point is at the Col du Somport. The road has a few winding sections. You’ll arrive at Pamplona before heading on to the town of Arguedas. Finally, you’ll take the road towards the Bardenas Desert.
Béarn, Basque Country, Navarrenx and Oloron Circuit
The finishing point of this circuit (Oloron) is close to Camping Beau Rivage: 24.2 km. The route covers 282 km (4 hr 30). You’ll start at top speed before heading towards Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and crossing other tourist sites in the Basque Country. A lovely ride very popular among bikers.
Oloron, Mallos de Riglos, Sigüés and the Col de La Pierre Circuit
Another must-try circuit for bikers. It covers 312 km that you can ride in 4 hr 40. The starting point is at the Col de La Pierre Saint-Martin. You’ll then descend into the Spanish Pyrenees after passing charming little villages. The route also leads to other breathtaking spots such as Los Mallos de Riglos. It’s about 1 hr 15 from Camping Beau Rivage (around 65 km).
The Col de Marie Blanque
We finish on a high with this very gentle 53 km (1 hr 10) circuit. A great motorbike ride that will let you explore the region’s mountain landscapes. You’ll also cross the Bénou Plateau. Once at the Col de Marie Blanque, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of the Ossau Valley. The route is about 52.6 km from the campsite.
