The Gave for newcomers\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A gave is the local name for a river or mountain torrent in the Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es-Atlantiques, and more particularly in B\u00e9arn<\/strong>, Bigorre<\/strong> and the Basque Country<\/strong>. The B\u00e9arn gaves<\/strong> such as those of Oloron<\/strong>, Aspe<\/strong>, Ossau<\/strong> or Pau<\/strong> are exceptional, just like La Saison<\/strong> (Maul\u00e9on gave) which flows into the Oloron. Wide and powerful on some stretches, they offer varied atmospheres throughout their course to the ocean. Their rapids are also fed by the heavy rainfall typical of these areas between coast and mountains.
