Enclosed by the Gaves
(mountain
streams) of Pau, Mauléon and Oloron, Navarrenx,Orthez,
Salies-de- Béarn and
Sauveterre-de-Béarn make up the local region known as the Béarn
des Gaves.
The Béarn offers the
opportunity to visit its capital city of
Pau with
the splendid vista from the boulevard des Pyrénées as
well as some wonderful
shopping. The old town of Salies-de-Béarn, with its salt-water
spring, is well
worth exploring, as are Orthez, and Oloron-Sainte-Marie with the Lindt
Chocolate factory!
