The
Béarn and Pays Basque have a huge
variety of sites to visit ranging from wildlife parks and nature
reserves to
train rides at the top of mountains.
The little
train at Artouste offers a
fabulous day out for all the family and a walk through the Gorges de
Kakouetta,
near the Spanish border, leads you to a spectacular waterfall.
The nearby Château de Laàs is well worth a visit to
view the fine collection of furniture, Aubusson
tapestries and the beautifully designed gardens.
Other tourist attractions include the pilgrim centre
of St Jean Pied de Port, and you can discover the
medieval history of the local towns with tours
offered by the local tourist offices.
