Cycling
The Béarn and
Pays Basque provide
limitless opportunity for both leisurely and more demanding cycling.
Whether you enjoy gentle cycling tours
or are looking for more challenging routes you will find a whole range
of
excursions available. These vary from flat river valleys to the
mountain passes
used regularly on the Tour de France – and everything in between.
Navarrenx has recently been designated
a VTT Base, with routes clearly marked for every level of mountain bike
enthusiast. You can hire mountain bikes from the “Mollet Futé”
in Navarrenx. |

Fishing
Navarrenx
plays host to the annual “World Salmon Fishing Championships” which
brings
hundreds of fishermen each year to try their
skills in the mountain-fed
rivers
of the area.
Raft, canoe and kayak
The constant supply
of water in the Gave
d’Oloron means that rafting trips are
possible throughout the summer
months.
A
trip down the river (from
beside the campsite) gives the opportunity of
escaping from the
walking and cycling routes and gives a whole
new view
of this
beautiful area.

Walking
The
campsite is situated just to the
north of the Pyrenees National Park which offers spectacular walking
routes in
the heart of the mountains, with or without a guide. Closer to
Navarrenx, a
huge choice of less challenging walking routes are also available.

Other
sports available
nearby include golf : Pau provides the oldest course in France,
conceived by a
scotsman, karting, paintball, quad biking and even microlighting or hot air ballooning!
